A PERSONAL PROMISE

Psalm 4:8

King James Version (KJV)

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.

Definitions:

Sleep- Remain long. Grow old. Stale or inveterate.

Lay me down- Take rest. Stay. Ravish.

Safety- Refuge, Assurance, Confidence, Hope, Safe, Secure.

Other Definitions:

Inveterate- (of a feeling or habit) long-established and unlikely to change. Confirmed. Long persistence.

Stale- being kept for too long.

Note:

I was asking the Lord to give me a promise that He will provide while my husband gets to College full time. The Lord answered me with the Psalm 4:8 in Spanish. I told Him: “but that bible verse talks about sleeping and having a good sleep”. Then, the Lord told me that “this verse is not only about sleeping in the natural realm”. He told me, “Seek the original”. I found out that “sleep” in the original also means the following: remain long, and grow old, stale or inveterate. Furthermore, the Lord is making a personal promise to me that we will have His refuge and that I have to remain in peace and long persistence. Its indeed a wonderful thing how the Lord always answers everything when we just humbly ask (Read Jeremiah 33:3). “If you ask, He will respond”; that is another promise in the Bible. Finally, the Lord speaks in different ways depending on our personal relationship with Him; in my case, I hear His voice and sometimes He whispers a Bible Verse to my ear.
